Entanglements
2026
The Entanglement series is a sculptural meditation on the invisible forces that govern the tides of both the natural world and the human psyche. At its core, the work explores the Lunar Effect/ pull of the moon as a metaphor for the external and internal pressures that shape our emotional landscapes.
Just as the moon dictates the rhythm of the tides, our lives are a series of "entanglements" with memory, environment, and one another. These sculptures seek to freeze the fluidity of a wave at the moment of its greatest tension, capturing the point where form begins to break and fold in on itself.
Each piece in the series is anchored by a central void, or "lunar eye." This negative space serves as the gravitational center of the work.
The eye, representing - The Moon as a silent observer and a source of constant pull. It is the empty space we attempt to fill through the act of living and creating.
The folds, representing - The Waves mimicing the rhythmic frequency of water. They are the complexity and chaos of our emotions, giving us the highs and lows of life.
Together the eye and folds develop movement from smooth, sweeping arcs to tight, compressed convolutions, mirroring the shift from serenity to anxiety. This makes the sculptural form something your eye traces and your mind recalling the entanglement of life.
